TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (April 18, 2016) – New road construction is set to begin in Tippecanoe County this week along Interstate 65 as contractors will be adding an extra travel lane along the interstate. Work will start at the southern limits of the project near State Road 38 and will continue to the area near the Wabash River Bridge.  Motorists can expect lane restrictions during the nighttime hours along with changing traffic patterns. Work will be done nightly between 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Drivers can expect two 11’ lanes to be maintained during the daytime.

The I-65 added travel lanes project, at a cost of $82 million dollars, will feature an additional lane both northbound and southbound from one half of a mile south of State Road 38 to one mile north of State Road 25. This project will also include construction of four noise walls, widening the S.R. 25 and S.R. 26 ramps as well as the Wildcat Creek Bridges.  Four overhead bridges will be worked on which include, C.R. 200 S., C.R. 500 E., C.R. 350 E.(Eisenhower Road) and C.R. 200 N.

Drivers will need to add extra time on their travels to and from the West Lafayette area as the project is scheduled to be completed in late November of 2017.
