INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 25, 2016)–Demolition and rebuilding of the Hanna Avenue bridge over I-65 will start Tuesday. Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) made that announcement official Monday after the project was delayed for about two weeks to obtain additional permits.

Contractors will  repair or replace concrete bridge components, including the bridge deck and expansion joints, and apply a latex-modified concrete overlay to the bridge deck.

A signed detour will direct Hanna Avenue traffic around construction and over I-65 via Keystone Avenue, Raymond Street and Sherman Drive.  The bridge project is expected to be completed by mid-July.

The project will require some overnight lane restrictions on I-65 just north of the I-465 interchange on the south side of Indianapolis.  Specific restrictions will be communicated to motorists using dynamic message signs.
