INDIANAPOLIS – Fire officials are investigating after a fire destroyed a south side home Monday night.

Firefighters were called to the 40th block of White Lick Drive shortly before 9:30 p.m. on reports of a fire.

When they arrived on scene, firefighters say they found heavy fire showing from the first and second floors of the home.

After battling the flames for about twenty minutes, fire crews marked the fire under control.

According to fire officials, the home is owned and occupied by a family of three. Two young men, ages 21 and 16, were home at the time of the fire. The young men told crews they found the fire downstairs after they were alerted by a smoke alarm.

No injuries were reported during this fire, but a pet rabbit named Russell is unaccounted for.

Two neighboring houses were also damaged by the flames.

Fire officials are continuing to investigate the cause of this fire.
