Driver critically injured in car accident on Indianapolis’ south side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating a serious accident on the city’s south side.

The accident happened just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Troy Avenue.

Police on scene tell us the silver pick-up truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit a curb and lost control. Officers say the truck rolled several times. It landed on top of a Jeep and another car parked in the parking lot of Aaron’s.

A woman was apparently asleep inside of the Jeep. She was taken to the hospital in good condition. The driver of the truck was taken to Eskenazi in critical condition.

According to police, the area of East Street and Madison Avenue has a history of street racing. It’s unclear if the truck was racing.
