INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Love was literally in the air for this Indianapolis couple on Thursday.

Mark Butler and Ashley Lacy met at work, and they’ve been dating for about three years. Mark told FOX59 that he’s wanted to propose to Ashley for the past two years, but he just got her ring about two weeks ago.

The couple made plans to visit Miami for Ashley’s birthday and Mark thought it would be the perfect occasion to propose! He also thought it was a good symbol of their relationship “taking flight.”

Before the plane left the airport, Mark approached a flight attendant in the gate area, and he gave her a ring box and asked if she would announce Ashley’s birthday on the PA.

So mid-flight, after the captain made an announcement, the flight attendant asked everyone to sing “Happy Birthday” to Ashley and that’s when Mark proposed.

Mark and Ashley say they don’t have a wedding date just yet, and they’re enjoying their vacation as a newly engaged couple in Miami.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
