PARLIER, Calif. – We “meow” pronounce you man and wife.

A Canadian couple with a deep love for animals got hitched at a cat sanctuary in California this week, reports KFSN.

Louis Veronneau and Dominic Husson, who are both from Montreal, made the trip to The Cat House on the Kings, the largest no-kill cat shelter in California.

More than a thousand cats attended the wedding, which was officiated by the sanctuary’s founder. The couple said they wanted a wedding that reflected their mutual love for animals.

According to KFSN, Veronneau first visited the sanctuary in 2012. She made it a goal to return one day—which just happened to be her wedding day.

The couple didn’t want any gifts, asking friends and family to donate to The Cat House instead. This was the first wedding the sanctuary has ever hosted.
