SPEEDWAY, Ind. (May 22, 2016) -- Today is Old National Armed Forces Pole Day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Before all the action on the track during qualifying, there was a ceremony for new recruits. About 90 young men and women took the Oath of Enlistment for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.

The 38th Infantry Division Band was there as well to show support. The 45 musicians come from all over the Midwest to perform at military ceremonies and events.

“For many people, their civilian jobs aren’t anything related to music, so this is an avocation for them and it’s a great way to serve the state and the nation,” said Chief Warrant Officer and Commander of the Band Patrick Palumbo.
