12-year-old boy in critical condition after being pulled from Carmel retention pond

CARMEL, Ind.– The Carmel Fire Department said a 12-year-old boy was rescued from a retention pond Wednesday evening.

The pond is located behind Manor Care Assisted Living on Fairfax Manor Drive, near North Pennsylvania Street. Officials confirmed the child was pulled from the pond by a Carmel police officer and was taken to St. Vincent Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital via ambulance.

CFD reported that crews got a pulse back while en route to the hospital. The child was said to be in critical condition.

Carmel police said the boy had wandered over from Penn Circle Apartments, just down the road.
