SPEEDWAY, Ind. – This year, a local family is not only celebrating the 100th running of the Indy 500, but they`re also celebrating their mother’s 100th birthday.

Louise Burcope lives in Speedway and worked at the IMS Museum.

Now she’s giving us an inside glimpse into what life was like for IndyCar drivers back in the day... And how she opened her home to several drivers – including AJ Foyt!

Burcope says Foyt lived with her and her family during his rookie season in 1959. Back then, there weren`t a lot of hotels around the track, so it was customary for area residents to house race drivers and their crews.

And since both Louise and her husband worked at the IMS, their home was open to anyone who needed it.
