INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– A documentary film based on a couple of years in Joey and Rory Feek’s lives will be coming out on September 20, in a one-night-only special event in select theaters.

Rory Feek wrote about the film in a blog post marking the 14th anniversary of their marriage. He says it starts a few weeks before their second daughter Indiana was born and runs up until this past spring.

Joey passed away on March 4 after she had been battling cancer since May 2014. She stopped treatments after discovering the cancer was terminal and spent her final days in her hometown of Alexandria.

Her battle inspired people across the world as she remained positive and professed her faith throughout the process.

“A film about our lives during that two-and-a-half years.  Our love.  Our struggles.  And even more so, about our faith in God and our hope in a plan… bigger than the one we can see with our own eyes,” Rory wrote.

He said the film, called “To Joey, With Love,” brought him to tears. He has already shared it with Joey’s family, who said they cried with him and “felt the power of watching her come to life again.”

“I have not cried beside Joey’s grave,” he wrote. “I have talked and prayed and sat still beside her cross for hours, but not really cried.  Not until yesterday when I shared this trailer with her, or at least tried to.  For our anniversary.  And I wept like a baby.”
