Indianapolis, Ind. – Can you dump the pump? On the 11th Annual National Dump the Pump Day, drivers are encouraged to find other ways of getting around, such as biking or riding public transportation.

“If you plan your route and the bus routes work for you, you can save a lot of money by choosing that over driving,” said Lauren Day, Manager of Marketing and Communications for IndyGo. “If it’s raining or you feel unsafe on the roads, sit back and relax, let someone else take you around. Transportation is an everyday reality for a lot of people in our city and we know that it’s important to millennials and the large population, so give it a try.”

To celebrate Dump the Pump Day, IndyGo is holding a competition. Winners get free bus passes.

To enter, submit a photo of how you choose to dump the pump Thursday on social media using the hashtag #DumpThePumpIndy.

Photos will be judged on:

  • Vibrancy – How bright and colorful is your photo?
  • Creativeness – How much effort did you put into capturing a shot?
  • Content – What message does your photo convey?

Prizes:

  • First Place: 1 monthly bus pass
  • Second Place: 1 weekly bus pass
  • Third Place: 1 Ten Trip bus pass

Winning photos will be featured on IndyGo Social Media.

“Transportation is a big conversation right now in Indianapolis,” said Day. “We’re opening the transit center for service on Sunday June 26th and route changes are happening. We have free rides June 26th-July 4th. So transit’s a really exciting thing right now and we want to make a big splash on Thursday.”
