Man hospitalized after east side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – A man is in serious condition after a shooting on the east side early Thursday morning.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the intersection of 10th Street and North Rural Street shortly after 2 a.m. on reports of a person shot.

According to police, the person who called 911 was the victim and he directed officers to his location on East 11th Street between North Oxford Street and North Parker Avenue.

Police say the victim was shot in the torso, and was transported to Eskenazi in serious condition.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding this shooting, but have not released any details about a suspect or motive at this point.
