HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. – The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a 2-month-old Fountaintown child.

The child’s mother, Deanna VanMeter, 26, called 911 around noon Wednesday, after she woke up and found the child unresponsive and not breathing.

The sheriff’s office says VanMeter attempted life-saving efforts until officers and EMS arrived. The child was then rushed to Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, but they were unable to revive the baby.

This death is still being investigated and detectives are working with the Hancock County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. An autopsy will be conducted.

Officials say there is no indication of foul play at this time.
