HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. – A Greenfield woman died Monday evening after she was struck by a semi while riding her bike in Hancock County.

The sheriff’s office says Theresa Corey Burris, 36, was riding on the right shoulder of eastbound US40 around 4 p.m., when the semi’s over-sized load struck her.

Burris was transported to an Indianapolis hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The driver has been identified as Reed Thompson, 55, of Whiteland.

Deputies say they do not suspect that drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the crash, but toxicology results are pending.

State police are conducting an inspection of the semi to determine if any safety or equipment violations contributed to the crash.
