JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – Someone stole a work van from the parking lot of a Speedway gas station in Greenwood Monday morning.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the theft happened just after 7 a.m. at the Speedway located at 6100 W. Smith Valley Rd. Surveillance video shows an older purple Dodge Dakota pulling up next to the van. A passenger then gets out and climbs behind the wheel of the other vehicle before taking off.

Police said the van’s driver had gone inside the store and left the vehicle running. Both the Dodge Dakota and the van headed east on Smith Valley Road. The license plate on the stolen van is XEM742, police said.

Investigators said the truck may have been used in an earlier vehicle theft case in Johnson County a few weeks ago.
