CLEVELAND, OH – We’re preparing for another electric night at the Republican National Convention as Indiana Governor Mike Pence prepares to make undoubtedly the biggest speech of his life.
Last night Speaker of the House Paul Ryan formally declared Donald Trump and Pence the Republican nominees for president and vice president. And tonight Pence will give his vice presidential acceptance speech in front of millions of Americans.
The official theme for the night is “Make America First Again” with many of the speakers trying to make the case that United States’ leadership role in the world has slipped under Obama and Trump is the man to restore it.
The speakers kick off at 7 p.m. Notable speakers include Marco Rubio (via video message), Ted Cruz, Eric Trump, and Newt Gingrich with his wife. Pence will close the night with his acceptance speech.
Before the primetime programming at Q Arena, Trump and Pence will hold a campaign event at 2 p.m. This will be their first joint-appearance together in public since Saturday’s announcement, and it will be their last joint-appearance before the candidates give their convention speeches.
Also, our reporter James Gherardi was able to catch up with Sajid Tarar, the founder of Muslim Americans for Trump who gave the benediction after Tuesday night's events at the RNC. He spoke with Gherardi about why he supports Trump and why he thinks more Muslims should follow suit.
