Man shot during attempted robbery on far east side

INDIANAPOLIS – Officers are investigating after they say a man was shot during a robbery on the far east side early Monday morning.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of Cherry Lake Road on reports of a robbery around 3:30 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

According to police, a male and female were outside their home when they were approached by the suspect. The suspect shot the male during an attempted robbery.

Police say the victim was awake and breathing when he was transported to Eskenazi.

Aggravated assault and robbery detectives are investigating but have not released any suspect information at this time. Investigators say they hope surveillance video from a nearby home will help them identify the suspect.
