Around 8 p.m., officers responded to the 6500 block of East 25th Street after reports of a shooting in the area. Officers saw a silver vehicle speed away from the scene and head south on Kitley Avenue.

A witness told officers that the passenger in the car may have been a shooting victim. Officers stopped the vehicle at 21st and Arlington, where they found Deontae Davis, 24, Indianapolis, had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives investigating the shooting developed information leading them to Jamarr Edmond, 25. Police questioned Edmond about the shooting and arrested him on a preliminary charge of murder.
