Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in Indiana and the nation. Now, the St. Vincent Cardiovascular Research Institute will be one of the leading cardiovascular research programs in the nation.

The Lucas Oil ‘Love it’ Soiree benefiting the St. Vincent Research Institute will be held on the Lucas Estate Saturday Aug. 27. Co-chairs Allison and Tom Melangton and Jackie and Jim Morris invite you to the Lucas Estate for an enchanted evening of unforgettable experiences, celebrities, and fun that will make a tangible difference to the heart of Indiana. Like the Melangton’s, the Morris’ and the Lucas’ countless families will need heart treatment that could save the life of someone you love, and St. Vincent is leading the way in research, technology, and treatment.

“We’re just happy it’s in our own backyard because I wouldn’t be here if they weren’t here,” Tom Melangton said.

The development of the St. Vincent Cardiovascular Research Institute will provide clinician-scientists at St. Vincent with the tools necessary to conduct high-quality research. The Institute will be led by selected St. Vincent frontrunners in cardiovascular research with a track record of scientific success. It will provide researchers with guidance on clinical trial design, data management, grant writing, and scientific publication, while also offering research coordinator and statistical support. The expansion and centralization of these capabilities will impact both the quality and cost-efficiency of cardiovascular research at St. Vincent.

“We all have a good life because so many people took care of us and now we have that responsibility to take it to the next level for those to come,” Jim Morris said. “They want to make the most of every opportunity they have and I admire them for that.”

You are invited to partner with St. Vincent as it takes another step in building its reputation as a nationally-recognized leader in cardiovascular care and research through the establishment of the St. Vincent Cardiovascular Research Institute. Your contribution to the development of these research capabilities will have a direct impact on the ability of St. Vincent to autonomously publish research and outcomes data, while also further improving outcomes of patients who put their faith in St. Vincent for the best possible cardiac care.
