AVON, Ind. -- Most business uses a printer, and even though fewer consumers have printers, millions of Americans still have them in their homes.

But there’s the sticker shock when you run out of ink or toner. Those little cartridges can come with a big price!

And that can really add up especially when you do a lot of printing.

“We write a lot of estimates every day, but the owner of Indy Ink and Toner gives me a great deal on ink. I checked and the competitors had cartridges that cost about $70 a cartridge, but here I get what I need for closer to $30. I can't beat that, that's a big savings,” said Quint Walberts, owner of Kustom Kolors Collision.

Walbert told FOX59 that paying for ink can stink, so he and others drive to Indy Ink and Toner in Avon. They say the short drive is well worth it in the long run.

“I’m a realtor and I print a lot of ads for my houses and my information sheets, so I use a lot of ink. And Greg saves me about 50% on all my cartridges,” said Paul Miller, owner of Innovative Home Realty.

Indy Ink and Toner recently moved to their new facility in Avon. It’s located in a strip mall at 7900 E. US Highway 36, Suite E, Avon, IN 46123.

“People just don't know about it. A lot of people haven't realized they can use remanufactured and refilled ink cartridges. And some people are just scared because they say it's generic ink but honestly, there's not a single problem at all using our ink. The cartridges are tested beforehand and if there is a problem, we give a 100% money back guarantee,” said Greg Platts, owner of Indy Ink and Toner.

It’s not just about the savings for many customers—it’s also about the convenience and the local, small business service.

“I'm an agent for State Farm, I've been there for 47 years, and I do a lot of printing. I always come here since they opened. If I need something quickly, Greg has it. And when I walk in the door he's able to pull it up on the computer and has it ready for me,” said Thomas Retherford, an agent with State Farm Insurance.

“He's done me a couple favors. There have been a couple times my ink printer was down. It was jamming up and my office manager was on maternity leave. And Greg ran down there quickly and took care of it. You can't ask for better service than that,” said Walberts.

If you have an older printer, Indy Ink and Toner can actually refill the ink at the shop for a fraction the cost of new. FOX59 did a story on that service 5 years ago, but today most printer cartridges have computer chips that make refilling very difficult. Even so, they still offer that service.

But what if you don't live near Avon? Indy Ink and Toner will ship cartridges to you. And it’s free shipping if the order is over $100.
