MUNCIE, Ind. – Muncie police have arrested two suspects in a horrific kidnapping case that occurred on the city’s northeast side.

According to police, last night two men kidnapped two women and one male and brought them to a car detailing garage on North Broadway Ave. The suspects bound the victims with zip ties and duct tape and beat them for several hours.

Fortunately, one of the female victims was able to escape because the garage was so hot that she was sweating and able to break free from the duct tape around her neck and hands. She then ran to a McClure gas station and called 911.

The woman spoke to FOX59 news about the terrifying ordeal. She said she went to the car garage after her friend didn't return home. When she got there, the woman claims she was hit on the back of the head with a shovel and passed out. When she woke up, she said she was bound with zip ties and duct tape.

"They duct taped me about 16-17 times, pulled out half of my hair. I have stitches in the back of my head," said the victim, who FOX59 is not identifying.

Police arrived at the garage around 3:50 a.m. and they located the two other victims and one of the suspects.

The man was beaten in the head with a shovel, and the female was shot dozens of times in her leg with a nail gun. All three victims were rushed to Ball Memorial Hospital.

One woman said she's still terrified for her life and safety.

“My heart was pounding so fast, I thought it was going to pound of my chest." She added," they said, we could scream forever and nobody could hear us and we did and nobody hear us.”

One of the suspects was arrested at the car detailing garage. Police arrested the second suspect at a second location. Police identified the suspects as Robert Walton and Benitez McCullum. They face charges of criminal confinement and battery with a deadly weapon.

Police are still trying to determine the motive for the kidnapping. They believe the suspects knew the victims, but they aren’t sure at what capacity they knew them.

Investigators are also trying to determine why the suspects brought the victims to the car detailing garage. They believe one of the suspects may work there.
