Police: Neighbor shoots man in neck after he wouldn’t stop beating dog
HOUSTON, TX — Police in Houston are investigating after a man was shot after being seen beating his dog, KPRC reports.
It happened at a home in the city early Wednesday morning when a man told police he was trying to discipline a dog that he says had been barking throughout the night. The man told police he hit the dog and threw things at it.
Another man confronted him about the beating. Police say that man grabbed a shotgun during the altercation, pointed it at the man who had been hitting the dog and the gun went off.
The man who was shot was hospitalized. There’s no word on his condition.
The shooter remained on the scene.
According to KPRC, Houston police said the shooter will not be charged in the case because they consider it to be self-defense.
