2 suspects in custody after shots are fired at officers at near east side gas station

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after shots were reportedly fired at two of their officers at a near east side Speedway gas station Sunday morning.

An IMPD officer says he and an off duty officer were at the gas station in the 1600 block of East Washington Street around 4:13 a.m. when they hear d a loud gunshot. The on duty officer says he then heard another shot and observed muzzle flashes from a gray Corvette.

A pursuit after the Corvette ensued. Police say the driver turned their lights off and headed north on North Tacoma, where the officers lost him.

A description of the vehicle was sent out and another officer located it and performed a felony stop. The 22-year-old and 23-year-old male suspects inside the vehicle were taken to the Arrestee Processing Center, where they could be charged with criminal recklessness.

No one was injured in this incident.
