State drops neglect case against Indianapolis woman

Update (August 8, 2017)– The prosecutor says Precious Beverly entered into a diversion agreement in January and complied with its requirements. The state dismissed the case against her in accordance with the agreement.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A baby in Indianapolis is safe and a woman is behind bars after Metro police found the child unattended early Sunday morning.

Police say it happened at an apartment in the 3700 block of North Meridian Street.

Shortly after 2 a.m., police were notified that a baby was found unattended with no clothes on. The baby was checked out by an emergency medical crew and was placed in the custody of child protective services.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Precious Ann Beverly who lives in one of the apartments and charged her with neglect of a dependent. She has a criminal history of domestic violence and battery.
