South side shooting investigation turns out to be battery case

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police say a south side shooting investigation turned out to be a simple battery case Wednesday evening.

It happened in the 2000 block of Boyd Avenue just before 9:30 p.m.

Officers originally thought the woman involved had been shot in the head, but they now believe she was somehow hit in the head and then a gunshot went off. She was transported to Methodist Hospital alert and talking.

Police are still trying to piece together what happened. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
