INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Colts added depth to their defense with the signing of cornerback Antonio Cromartie. Signed as a free agent, the 11-year NFL veteran will bolster an Indianapolis defense that has been battered by injury.

Cromartie, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, has spent time with the Jets, Cardinals and Chargers. He has 133 career NFL starts, tallying 389 tackles (340 solo), 31 interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), 115 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown). Among active NFL players, Cromartie’s 31 interceptions rank third.

Originally selected by San Diego, Cromartie was in the 19th overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Florida State.
