MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie police are investigating after shots were fired outside a Village Pantry, just one street away from the Ball State campus around 2:30 a.m.  Sunday.

Muncie police dispatchers described the scene as a “drive-by” style shooting.

It’s not clear yet how many shots were fired, but nobody was hurt.  The intended target of the gunfire was not immediately known.

Police say they pulled over a car nearby, and the subjects inside had weapons.  Those subjects are in custody and are being interviewed.  No shots actually made it into the Village Pantry.

An “avoid area” alert was sent out by the university at 3:05 a.m, and an “all-clear” was given just after 4:30 this morning.

We’ll update this investigation as we learn more.
