Indianapolis police release identity of woman found dead in abandoned near east side home

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis police are investigating a homicide on the near east side after a woman was found dead in an abandoned home.

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue around 8 a.m. Thursday morning on a report of a body at a vacant house.

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified female suffering from apparent signs of trauma. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the female deceased.

Homicide detectives, crime lab and a coroner were called to the scene.

Police say workers at the house found the female victim and called police.

The woman was later identified as Yolanda Williams, 38, of Indianapolis.
