Five arrested after police seize drugs, guns, cash from east side home

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police seized drugs, guns and cash during an investigation on the east side.

Police say the investigation centered on a narcotics trafficking ring originating from a residence in the 6100 block of Commodore Drive. The house was searched after officers got a warrant, and the following items were seized:

  • Nearly 12 pounds of marijuana
  • A small amount of heroin
  • $8,677 in cash
  • 1 Ruger 9mm handgun
  • 1 Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun
  • 1 Taurus .45 caliber/.410 gauge handgun
  • 2 shotguns
  • 1 SKS 7.62 X 39 caliber rifle
  • Scales for weighing narcotics
  • Packaging for mailing marijuana

Five people were arrested for their allegedly possessing and distributing marijuana: James Butler, 27, Dominique Downing, 25, Anthony Pitman, 30, Adrian Smith, 40 and Wardell Wright, 37.

Police say these arrests are part of “Operation Next Step.” Increased patrols and enforcement are expected throughout the holiday weekend.
