INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police say an Indianapolis man died early Saturday morning when the van he was traveling in crashed into a median on eastbound I-70 near Shadeland Avenue.

Emergency crews were called to the crash around 6 a.m. When they arrived, they originally believed they van was abandoned, but then found the victim, Devon Cissell, 27, about 100 yards behind the crash site.

Police believe the impact of the vehicle ejected Cissell, who was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle continued on for around 150 yards before coming to a rest. Officers do not believe any other vehicles were involved.

Several lanes of I-70 were blocked as crews investigated, but have since been opened back up.

Police are still waiting for toxicology results to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
