INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- As the city gears up for the return of Andrew Luck and the Colts on Sunday, there's a change at the stadium you should know about.
Multiple entrances into Lucas Oil Stadium will now be outfitted with metal detectors, at which fans will have to empty pockets and walk through.
"They will be asked to place items into a bowl and then walk through, not unlike going through the airport," Colts Vice President Larry Hall said.
Hall said that the Colts will phase the metal detectors in, so some entrances will still use the old wanding method by security personnel.
He suggested that all fans show up early to the game, in order to get used to the new technology and make it inside the stadium to see kickoff.
The clear bag policy is still in place, too, so leave your purses and backpacks at home.
If you're not planning a trip to Lucas Oil, now might be the time to look into it. Jonathan Medley of Fanfare Tickets says prices for the season are much lower than last year.
"It’s a good opportunity to go out and see some games for a lot less money than they have been for years past," Medley said.
Tickets to Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions are still on sale. The Lions released 300 tickets back to the Colts on Thursday, which are available on Ticketmaster for as low as $60. Medley said tickets on third party sites start at $40.
The biggest draw this season will be the Chicago Bears game. Medley said it is easily the highest-priced, starting at around $150.
The rest of the season, though, includes teams that aren't frequent opponents. Medley said the Steelers game, on Thanksgiving night, is also less than a normal Steelers game as many ticket holders sell their seats because of the holiday.
"It’s a great year to go see (the Colts)," Medley said.
Hall said that the Colts will also roll out new additions to Touchdown Town before the game, focusing on bringing fans out to the games early.
"You cannot (effect) the game from your couch, so come to the stadium and be loud and be proud," Hall said.
Kickoff events, including a free concert, are also going on through the weekend. For a full schedule of events, go to the link here.
