INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police arrested a man who tried to run from them and seized a loaded rifle, cash and heroin.

On Monday around 10:30 p.m., two Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were driving east on 38th Street in their marked police vehicle when a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser turned in front of them, forcing the driving officer to brake in order to avoid hitting another vehicle.

The driver of the PT Cruiser was pulled over and the driver, identified as 31-year-old Leondre Woodson, took off on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Woodson was taken into custody.

While searching his vehicle, officers found an AR-15 rifle (Smith and Wesson M&P15), which was loaded with a 30-round magazine with one in the chamber. Police also seized 4.08 grams of heroin and $263 in cash.

Woodson faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of heroin and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license. He was also in violation of his parole.
