MUNCIE, Ind.- A Muncie man is behind bars, thanks to a social media-savvy business owner.
According to police, Chad Eric Terrell used a crowbar to break into Coyote Vape last week. During the incident, cameras caught the suspect stealing merchandise and money.
When the store's owner, Jonathan Wyatt, saw the footage, he promptly called police and posted the images to the store's Facebook page.
"Within five minutes, I had his name and his address," said Wyatt.
Authorities finally caught up with Terrell and arrested him during an undercover drug operation. They say at the time of his arrest, he had 16 other charges pending against him across several counties. Muncie police say this case highlights how much social media can help investigators.
"Without the images and the thousands of eyes seeing that online, this may have gone unsolved," said Muncie Police Investigator Nick Ramsey.
Terrell is currently being held in the Delaware County jail with no bond.
