Hoosiers walk to battle heart disease, stroke

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Around 10,000 Hoosiers will converge on White River State Park Saturday for the American Heart Association's Heart Walk and 5K Run.

The event is expected to raise  nearly $1 million, with most of that money remaining in central Indiana to fund research, education and community programs.

The 5K costs $25 to run and registration for the walk is free. The event celebrates survivors of heart disease and stroke while raising money for the ongoing battle against the No. 1 and No. 5 killers of Americans.

Registration starts Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and the races begin at 10:00 a.m.
