2 arrested during Tippecanoe County traffic stop
TIPPECANOE COUNTY – Two people were arrested early Sunday morning after an Indiana State Trooper stopped their vehicle on southbound I-65 and found multiple guns without permits.
The trooper says he was patrolling a construction zone near mile marker 168 when he passed the vehicle going 84 mph in a 55 mph zone around 6:24 a.m.
When the trooper approached the car, he reportedly noticed the driver, Antonio Davis Jr, 25, was trying to hide a handgun between the seats. Davis was then placed in custody after failing to provide a valid handgun permit. A warrant was also out for his arrest for failing to appear for a driving while suspended charge out of Marion County. The passenger, Shanda T. Davis, 27 was also taken into custody for resisting law enforcement.
Both suspects were transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
While inventorying the vehicle that had an expired plate, troopers found a second gun underneath the driver’s seat.
