INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Fire crews are investigating after an early morning fire destroyed a home on the city's southwest side.
The fire on the 1100 block of South Belmont Ave broke out just before 6:15 a.m.
IFD Battalion Chief Dennis Musgrave tells FOX59 they initially received reports of an entrapment, but when crews got on scene, both residents had made it out safe. Firefighters worked quickly to get the fire under control, but Battalion Chief Musgrave says the duplex is a total loss.
Firefighters say only one side of the duplex had a working smoke detector and that it was not in that part of the home where the fire broke out. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
