Maid of honor carries bride’s dying dog down the aisle

DENVER– A maid of honor carried a bride’s sick dog down the aisle when the pup was too weak to meet his owners at the altar himself.

The dog, Charlie Bear, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor in April, but the bride, Kelly O’Connell, told ABC News that it was important to her and her groom, James Garvin, that the dog was in attendance on their special day.

Photographer and family friend, Jen Dziuvenis, captured the heartwarming moment the maid of honor assisted Charlie down the aisle.

“Both of us just dropped to our knees and started crying,” Kelly told ABC News. “To see him be carried a few feet, it kind of solidified for me that it’s not the Charlie he liked to be. He was aging, and it hit me knowing that he lost a lot.”

Sadly, Charlie succumbed to his illness and died just days after the wedding.

Since then, Dziuvenis has shared the wedding photos on Facebook and they’ve gone viral, being shared over 25,000 times.

O’Connell told ABC she plans on having the photos of Charlie blown up and displayed in her home.
