Police release vehicle description after child ejected from stroller in west side hit-and-run crash

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– A child and grandmother were injured in a hit-and-run Wednesday evening on the west side.

The Wayne Township Fire Department said the incident occurred in the 4400 block of West Washington Street.

The grandmother was pushing the stroller north across Washington Street. They say the pickup truck was driving westbound from Fleming Street.

The truck that hit the child and grandmother left the scene. The child was ejected from her stroller.

The child was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition, according to police, and is now in stable condition. The grandmother is in good condition.

IMPD is searching for a black 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 extended cab (four doors), with possible gray trim on the lower portion of body and a chrome front bumper.

There may be damage to the driver’s side front portion of the suspect vehicle.

After the crash, the pickup fled westbound on West Washington Street and turned northbound into the neighborhood on the north side of the street.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS or the Accident Investigation Office at 317-327-6549.
