UPDATE: The Statewide Silver Alert for the Elmer D. Mays was canceled late Monday night.

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. – A Statewide Silver Alert was declared Monday night for a missing Tippecanoe County man who police believe is in danger.

Elmer D. Mays, 85, was last seen around noon Monday in Clarks Hill, which is about 17 miles south of Lafayette.

Officers say Mays is 6 feet tall, weighing 228 lbs., with ear length gray hair and blue eyes.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white tee shirt with an image or reference to the state of Florida.

Mays is believed to be driving a red 2006 Dodge truck with a black bed cover and an Indiana plate reading D383NL. The vehicle may also have NASCAR or Sheriff supporter stickers on it.

Police say Mays may be disoriented and require medical attention. If you have any information regarding his location, you’re asked to contact the Tippecanoe County Sheriff by calling 765-423-9388.
