For many people, it’s the fuel they need to get their day started.

So it’s only fitting that we celebrate National Coffee Day with free and discounted cups of Joe. Several companies are offering deals today.

Dunkin’ Donuts, which has 12,000 locations around the globe, will use the occasion to celebrate its 66th birthday. Customers can get a medium cup of coffee for 66 cents to commemorate the occasion.

The chain will also choose 66 of its Twitter users with Dunkin’ Donuts cards good for a year’s worth of free coffee. The special cards were created exclusively for the promotion, the company said.

In addition, Dunkin’ Donuts will offer a special National Coffee Day Snapchat Geofilter design that will only be available on Sept. 29.

Pilot Flying J will give you a free small cup of coffee (or another selection like tea or cappuccino). Customers just have to print out the online coupon at the company’s Facebook page. The deal is good only for Thursday, Sept. 29.

Krispy Kreme stores are offering a free 12 oz. cup of coffee and a free glazed donut for National Coffee Day at participating locations. No purchase is necessary to cash in on that deal.

Starbucks isn’t offering a discount, but it’s hoping to appeal to the generosity of coffee drinkers. The company will donate a coffee tree for every cup of brewed Mexico Chiapas sold on National Coffee Day.

Those trees will support efforts against a fungus called “coffee rust” that’s devastating trees in Latin America. Starbucks hopes to sell enough of the coffee to donate 20 million trees by the end of the year.

Jack’s Donuts locations around central Indiana are giving away a free cup of coffee with every donut purchase.
