Police searching for potentially armed carjacker on neareast side

Indianapolis, IND. — Police are searching for a man who carjacked a woman on the southeast side early this morning.

A woman drove her silver Pontiac Torrent into a gas station around 2:40 a.m. The male suspect forced himself into her driver’s seat, and took off with her still inside the vehicle .  Police say he then forced her out of the car near Spann Avenue, then quickly drove away.

The suspect crashed her SUV into a stop sign on Oxford and English Avenue, then fled the scene on foot.

The victim is not hurt, though authorities believe suspect may have been armed.

Authorities are still actively searching for the suspect at this hour. We have crews on scene and will continue to update you as details become available.
