FasTrack Mechanical Play of the Week nominees: October 7
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – From all the prep football action we saw Friday night across Central Indiana, two plays stood out above the rest. They are nominees for the FasTrack Mechanical Play of the Week, and your vote will determine the winner.
NOMINEE #1: NORTH CENTRAL’S COLE MAGUIRE
North Central entered their matchup with Pike riding a 28-game losing streak. After one play, it looked like 29 was more than possible, after the Red Devils scored a long touchdown. Later in the quarter, after the Panthers' defense got a takeaway, the offense faced a third down at the 22 yard line. Quarterback Cole Maguire ran the read option to perfection, keeping the ball and taking it down the middle of the field himself for the touchdown. North Central went on to win 42-35 and snap their losing streak.
NOMINEE #2: LUTHERAN'S JACOB FAUBION
The Saints traveled to Speedway, taking on the Sparkplugs on their senior day. A fast start was necessary to quiet the home crowd, and Lutheran got exactly that. After an early rushing touchdown, the Saints went to the air as Zach White lofted the pass down the sideline, and Jacob Faubion came down with a leaping catch. Faubion spun around and stretched for the goal line as he was being tackled, and crossed the plane for six points in the Saints' 35-7 win over Speedway.
