MUNCIE, Ind. — Police are investigating after a fatal overnight shooting near Ball State University.

Officers were dispatched to the shooting in the 1700 block of North Glenwood around 6:28 a.m. Saturday.

The female tenant of the apartment told police that two people had broken into her apartment to try and rob her, so she fired shots at them.

One of the intruders, 22-year-old Trayon Lawaun Turner, of Indianapolis, was fatally wounded and was pronounced dead on-scene. The other intruder ran from the scene.

Another person inside the apartment was also shot. Officers believe one of the intruders shot that victim. That person was transported to Ball Memorial Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Around 6:53 a.m., the hospital called police to say another victim had arrived with multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting is still under investigation.
