Traffic stop prompts drug investigation, leads to arrest of 12 people in Franklin County

LAUREL, Ind.– A minor traffic infraction led to the arrest of 12 people after the occupants in the vehicle were found to be in possession of drugs and firearms.

According to the Laurel Police Department, an officer pulled over the suspects’ vehicle for a minor traffic violation early Sunday morning on State Road 121. K9 units called to the scene detected the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, said police.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found more than 3 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, two firearms, syringes and $2,100 in cash.
