Crawfordsville High School senior killed in two-car crash
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Police are investigating a two car crash in Crawfordsville that seriously injured two people and killed a Crawfordsville High School student.
Police were dispatched to US 136 just east of Nucor Road on October 13 at approximately 7:17 a.m. in reference to a crash involving two cars.
One vehicle, a 1994 Toyota, was driven by Thomas Edwards, 17, of Crawfordsville.
The second vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet, was driven by Kelly Kruse, 39, of Crawfordsville. Matthew Garrett, 37, of Terre Haute, was a passenger in the second vehicle.
Edwards was transported to Franciscan Health Crawfordsville where he was later pronounced dead.
Kruse and Garrett were also transported to Franciscan Health Crawfordsville and later transferred to St. Vincent Hospital.
Crash re-constructionist from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police were called to the scene of the crash.
This crash is still under investigation and toxicology results are pending.
Edwards was a student at Crawfordsville High School. Superintendent Scott Bowling released the following statement.
Crawfordsville High School is greatly saddened by the untimely death of Thomas “Tommy” Jordan Edwards, a senior at our school. Tommy was a member of the baseball and football teams as well as the French Club throughout his time at CHS. He had aspirations of attending a four-year school to major in Elementary Education. Tommy will be deeply missed.
Additional counseling services have been made available today as we grieve this painful loss.
