INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– A candlelight vigil was held Friday for a Ben Davis High School senior killed in a car crash Wednesday night.
Frank Wilson Jr., 18, was identified as the victim in a fatal crash that occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday night at the intersection of West 10th Street and Whitcomb Avenue.
The Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township said Wilson was a senior at Ben Davis High School and leader in the school’s Marine Corps JROTC program.
We spoke with 17-year-old Johnny Langley, a good friend of Wilson’s, who said they became close during JROTC. They excelled to the top of the program’s ranks together.
“One of the greatest things about Frank was he just drove me to be better. He drove me to be a better leader. Any time I needed him, he was there for me,” said Langley. “He had the biggest heart–that’s something I’ll never forget about him.”
Wilson was also a member of the National Guard, and inspired Langley to join.
Langley organized a candlelight vigil that will be held for Wilson on Friday. It will take place from 6-9 p.m. at 10th and Whitcomb, the site of the crash. He said Wilson’s family gave him permission to put the event together.
“I’m going to do everything within my power to make sure he’s not forgotten,” said Langley.
