Indianapolis, IND. — Police are investigating why a woman shot and killed her ex-husband just after midnight.

Officers were called to the 7200 block of East 13th Street and found 40-year-old Jack Martin dead inside the home upon arrival. He suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives quickly determined the suspect was the man’s ex-wife, 36-year-old Brittni Martin of Indianapolis. She was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder.

Police say they believe the couple’s relationship may have experienced domestic abuse. IMPD would like to remind anyone suffering from domestic abuse that help is available. Anyone in an abusive relationship is urged to call Connect to Help at 211 to be connected to an advocate or 9-1-1 if it is an emergency.
