Two people injured when ATV collides with hay wagon

MARKLEVILLE, Ind.–Two people were injured when their ATV collided with a hay wagon Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly after noon in the 6800 block of South Madison County Road 300 East near Markleville, Indiana.

The preliminary investigation indicates 49 -year-old Erik Bielata was operating the ATV with his 12-year-old daughter, Kennedy riding as a passenger.

The two were on private property attending a family event, which included a hay ride.  The ATV reportedly collided with the rear of the hay wagon as both vehicles traveled along a trail.

The crash caused both father and daughter to be tossed from the ATV and ended up pinned underneath the vehicle.

A witness was able to pull the ATV off them and both were taken to St. Vincent Anderson Hospital.

Their injuries were described as non life-threatening.  Neither were wearing any protective gear at the time of the crash.
