CHICAGO — An American Airlines plane caught fire on the tarmac at O’Hare International Airport before takeoff, forcing passengers to exit using evacuation slides Friday afternoon.

One man recorded the chaos inside the plane as passengers desperately tried to flee the burning aircraft (Warning: Video contains explicit language; some may find the content disturbing):

According to an FAA tweet, the Miami-bound Flight 383 blew a tire before the fire started. One passenger reported hearing what sounded like an explosion.

At least six ambulances rushed to the scene Friday afternoon.

Seven passengers and one flight attendant were injured and taken to hospitals, American spokeswoman Leslie Scott said. There was no immediate word on their condition.

Others posted photos and videos to social media of the scene.
