According to the website outage.report, Indianapolis was included in the outage reported across many Midwest cities. Another similar website, downdetector.com, reported a spike in reported AT&T outage complaints as well.
The websites reported Verizon was also having issues, but on a much smaller scale.

“There is a confirmed outage… We are working to stabilize your network at this time. We thank you for your patience,” AT&T Cares said in a tweet to a customer.
A spokesperson for AT&T also confirmed the outage to Fox 59.
“We are aware of a service issue which may be affecting some wireless customers in areas of South central Illinois, Southern Indiana and Kentucky, and we’re investigating the issue and will work to resolve it as quickly as possible,” a spokesperson for AT&T confirmed to Fox 59.
Customers who try to make phone calls are reportedly getting “Call Failed” errors or a recording saying the call couldn’t be completed. The reported spiked around 7 p.m.
At this time, the cause of the reported outage is unknown. AT&T did not immediately reply to our request for a statement.
